Ofichem, a Netherlands-based CDMO, has announced the acquisition of Kinentia Biosciences, a New York-based drug substance CDMO. The deal gives Ofichem an operational foothold in the US and adds Kinentia's early-stage development expertise to its European capabilities. The transaction is pending CFIUS approval and other closing conditions.
Kinentia customers will now gain access to Ofichem's wider Drug Substance network, including process scale-up, regulatory support, and GMP manufacturing at the FDA-inspected Ter Apel facility in the Netherlands. Ofichem's existing US and biotechnology customers benefit from increased flexibility in manufacturing location across the US and Europe.
This acquisition consolidates the CDMO space and highlights industry trends toward supply chain resilience and onshoring. The combined entity can support programs from early development through commercial manufacturing, reducing handover risks between independent providers.
Monitor CFIUS approval, which is a condition for closing. After closure, watch integration of Kinentia into Oficohem's brand and operational network, as well as any further expansion plans for US controlled-substance capabilities that may create new compliance and consulting demands.
