Mankind Pharma announced on October 15, 2026, that its wholly owned subsidiary, Mankind Pharma (Netherlands) B.V., signed a definitive agreement to acquire a 70% stake in Armed Cell Therapeutics B.V. (ACTx) for €48 million, payable in cash instalments. The deal marks Mankind's entry into next-generation CAR-T cancer therapy research.
ACTx is a Belgium-incorporated biotechnology company developing next-generation CAR-T treatments, with lead programmes targeting non-Hodgkin lymphoma and small cell lung cancer. Mankind's board also approved an additional investment limit of up to €45 million in the Netherlands subsidiary.
ACTx and its research teams in the United States and Europe will now operate under Mankind Pharma's majority ownership. The Indian pharmaceutical company gains access to a development-stage CAR-T pipeline and scientific team.
The deal does not mean ACTx's experimental therapies have received regulatory approval or are ready for routine patient use. Clinical and commercial outcomes remain uncertain.
Mankind is moving beyond its established medicines and consumer healthcare businesses into research-intensive cell therapy. The acquisition connects an Indian pharma with advanced cancer research in Europe and the United States.
Monitor ACTx's clinical progress, regulatory milestones, and manufacturing decisions as it integrates with Mankind's resources. Any advancement of its CAR-T candidates could create urgent needs for trial management, CRO support, and cell-therapy production capabilities.
Also watch how Mankind deploys the additional €45M investment limit and whether the new parent company seeks external partners to accelerate the pipeline.
