Xopero Software, a global provider of backup, disaster recovery, and data protection software (including the GitProtect.io brand for DevOps environments), announced the acquisition of Vigil Guard. Vigil Guard operates an AI Detection and Response (AIDR) platform that monitors, controls, and secures interactions with AI systems, detecting prompt injection attacks and preventing sensitive data leakage via autonomous AI agents. The combined entity will deliver an end-to-end AI security framework, moving Xopero’s portfolio beyond traditional backup toward a unified data protection and AI Governance stack.
Current Xopero customers (nearly 2,000 organizations across 60+ countries, including Fortune 500 enterprises) will gain access to Vigil Guard’s real-time AI threat detection capabilities. Vigil Guard’s core team will integrate with Xopero, continuing development of their proprietary AIDR engines while leveraging Xopero’s global R&D and distribution network. Prospects include CISOs and security teams in highly regulated sectors such as financial services, insurance, telecommunications, healthcare, and public administration that are deploying AI agents and need compliance with ISO 27001, SOC 2, NIS2, and DORA.
Monitor how Xopero integrates Vigil Guard’s technology into its existing backup product lines and MSP platform. The speed of go-to-market for the combined AIDR offering will determine whether Xopero can capture first-mover advantage in the emerging AI Governance security category. Watch for customer case studies in regulated verticals and any subsequent partnership announcements with Atlassian (given the mention of Jira, Confluence, and Rovo vulnerabilities) to deepen the DevOps security integration.
