CrowdStrike is in advanced talks to acquire Orion Security, an Israeli startup building an AI-powered data protection platform, for approximately $500 million. Orion has raised $38 million since its founding in 2024, including a $32 million Series A led by Norwest Venture Partners with IBM participation.
Orion's platform uses AI agents to continuously monitor data movement and assess context—such as data sensitivity, user identity, and intent—to prevent leaks. The company says this approach reduces false positives and catches incidents that traditional DLP tools miss.
Orion's customers and prospects in the data-loss prevention market are directly affected, as are competitors selling DLP and data security solutions. Orion currently employs around 20 people and is expanding operations in Israel and New York.
CrowdStrike’s acquisition spree in Israel—including Seraphic, Adaptive Shield, Flow Security, and Bionic—shows an active integration roadmap that could reshape how Orion’s technology is packaged and sold.
Watch for whether the deal closes at the reported $500 million valuation and how CrowdStrike integrates Orion into its Falcon platform. Existing Orion customers will need clarity on migration, support, and product continuity.
Competitors may accelerate messaging around AI-native DLP and move to capture Orion’s installed base before the deal finalizes.
