OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, has acquired Glass Imaging, a venture-backed startup specializing in AI-powered photo processing. The deal is valued at approximately $300 million, according to reports. Glass Imaging's technology, called 'Glass AI,' uses neural image signal processing (ISP) to enhance photos taken on small sensors, like those in smartphones, to produce results closer to full-frame DSLR or mirrorless cameras.
The acquisition was confirmed through multiple sources, though OpenAI has not publicly detailed its plans for the technology. The deal follows OpenAI's larger $6.5 billion investment in Io Products, the company founded by former Apple designer Jony Ive, which is also developing AI-driven hardware.
