Crusoe raised $3.9 billion in a Series F round at a $30.9 billion valuation, co-led by Atreides Management, Mubadala Capital, and Valor Equity Partners. Founders Fund, GIC, Nvidia, Qatar Investment Authority, Radical Ventures, and TPG also participated. The company announced three new board members: Cloudflare CFO Thomas Seifert, Primary Digital Infrastructure CIO Bill Stein, and Redwood Materials founder JB Straubel. The funds will finance existing data center projects, including a large site in Abilene, Texas used by OpenAI, and modular AI factories called Spark that can be transported by truck.
Crusoe's customers—Meta, Microsoft, Oracle, OpenAI, and Jane Street—will see expanded capacity. SDRs selling cloud infrastructure, GPU orchestration, security, or data center operations software should target Crusoe now as they scale their three-pronged business model (leasing space, renting GPUs, selling inference compute). The company recently signed a $13 billion, five-year cloud contract with Jane Street and met with Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley about a potential IPO.
Watch for Crusoe's IPO timeline and how its modular data centers scale. The new board members—especially Cloudflare's CFO and Redwood Materials' CEO—may influence procurement and partnership decisions. Crusoe's ability to balance its crypto mining roots with AI infrastructure demand will be key as it competes with other data center developers.
