The African Development Bank Group approved a $66M financing package for the first phase of Egypt's 500 MW Dandara solar project, including a 100MWh battery energy storage system. The project, set to be operational by 2028, will supply clean energy to the Aluminium Company of Egypt under a 25-year PPA.
The Aluminium Company of Egypt (EgyptAlum) is the sole off-taker of the project's energy output. The Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) will support the project through a wheeling agreement. The project also impacts stakeholders in Egypt's renewable energy and industrial sectors.
