The FDA granted 510(k) clearance to Click Therapeutics' Motivista, a prescription digital therapeutic (PDT) delivered via smartphone, for the treatment of negative symptoms of schizophrenia as an adjunct to clinician-managed outpatient care in adults with stable positive symptoms. This is the first FDA-authorized treatment indicated specifically for negative symptoms of schizophrenia in the United States.
The clearance was supported by the Phase 3 CONVOKE study, which showed a 6.8-point improvement in negative symptom severity (CAINS-MAP) at 16 weeks versus 4.2 points in the digital control arm — a 62% relative improvement (Cohen's d -0.36; P=0.0003). Results were published in JAMA Network Open.
Click Therapeutics is the primary beneficiary, now holding the first FDA-authorized digital therapeutic for negative schizophrenia symptoms. Patients aged 18+ with schizophrenia and stable positive symptoms are the target population. The company's CCO Richard DeNunzio explicitly referenced payer and state Medicaid programs as key coverage targets, indicating that commercial launch and reimbursement efforts are underway.
Click is conducting an open-label extension study to deliver additional data on engagement and durability of effect. Watch for payer coverage decisions, particularly from state Medicaid programs, and any partnership or business development announcements as the company commercializes Motivista. The Phase 3 data publication in JAMA Network Open adds credibility for future partnership outreach.
